friendships

I found myself thinking about how blessed I have been throughout the years because I have three best friends in my life that have shared so much with me.  We have been through childrearing years, seeing our kids go thru school, then college, then marriage, starting their own families, etc.  And, I can honestly say that so many of those milestones have had more of an impact because we shared them together.
On my recent trip to Tulsa to spend time with Sar, I was telling her how happy I am that through the years she has developed such meaningful relationships with her three best friends.  I told her that life will be sweeter and at times more bearable because you have those friends to lean on and most of all, as the years go by--they will be the most cherished memories.  I know that her witnessing the relationship between me and the "Rusty's" has been a great example of what best friends can mean in a woman's life.  And in time, she will know just how valuable that will be for all of them.
These girls met in college and through the years have formed such a beautiful foundation for a life long bond.
When I'm around Sar and I see how much she loves those girls, when they talk, laugh and share the important milestones in their own lives, I can't help but feel blessed to be a witness to that friendship and be excited for all them.  To see what the future holds.
I pray that they will continue to grow and be there for one another through many beautiful years.
